The residents of Goregaon and Jogeshwari have a reason to cheer. If everything goes as per schedule, Mumbai suburban’s new railway station at Oshiwara would be operational by November 2016. Similarly Harbour line train from Andheri to Goregaon also slated to be rolled out from November 2016.
This was a promise made by railway officials from western railways Mumbai division during a meeting with Member of Parliament Gajanan Kirtikar on preparedness of nullah’s cleanliness before monsoon.
Member of Parliament Gajanan Kirtikar organised a review meeting with Mumbai divisions railway officials which was held at in Cement Godown at Ram Mandir Road Jogeshwari west.
The main agenda in the meeting was to discuss preparedness of cleanliness of nullah’s from Andheri to Malad areas adjoining to railway tracks, to start much awaited extension of harbour line between Andheri and Goregaon and Oshiwara station to be made operational soon.
It may be noted that there are many low line areas adjoining to railway lines from Andheri to Malad. The flood prone areas include Parle biscuits factory area near Andheri, Oshiwara, near St Thomas School at Goregaon, Walbhat area and Daftary Road area of Malad.
Gajanan Kirtikar MP said “Railway administration ignores and delay in cleaning of nullah’s prior to arrival of monsoon specifically from Andheri to Malad areas. Due to non cleanliness of nullah’s railway tracks are submerged causing cancelation and delay in train services. We are following it up with railway administration to take this issue on priority basis to avoid hardship of railway commuters”.
Kirtikar further added “We have discussed all related subject with railway officials and they have promised us to do the cleanliness drive before monsoon. They also promised us that Andheri – Goregaon harbour line hopefully would be operational by November end. New railway station at Oshiwara also would be made operational at same time. The work on this project is going on in high-speed”.
