Celebrate Ganesha festival responsibly

In the year 2012, the Lokhandwala Ganpati Visarjan Pond made it’s debut at the back road of Lokhandwala, in initial years, the numbers were in a few hundred, which quickly increased rapidly as the popularity of the pond grew in leaps with each passing year.

Last year, after many years of efforts, the Lokhandwala Oshiwara Citizen’s Association which curates the festival at the pond was able to successfully double the size of pond with the assistance of MCGM. It was very warmly received by the residents as the old one had many flaws like leakage of water & insufficient size etc.

This year again, LOCA members like Dhaval Shah, Amarjeet Gumber, Karan Jotwani, Ganesh Rao, Vivek Golani, Sailesh Sahadevan, Vijay Agarwal & many others will be putting up fantastic & enjoyable show for the residents. The pond has been painted & touched up for the upcoming festival.

We urge the residents to avoid using Juhu Beach, Versova Beach & other such water bodies as the idols contaminate the water bodies & cause grave harm to the marine life due to leaching of toxic colours & very slow degrading process of the POP idols & nirmalaya debris like, flower, incense, camphor, etc.

As of today, most of the idols are thrown back out on the beach in mutilated form which is insulting and is a headache for the municipal body to gather it & dispose it off. So we earnestly request the residents to choose an eco-friendly way to say goodbye to your loving Lord Ganesha.
