Make School Safe

In the first week of August in Seth Juggilal Podar school of Malad, the peon of school raped a four year old girl in the school washroom. Enraged by these often acts of violence against children by school employees or associates like school bus employees, residents of Lokhandwala, Oshiwara, Shastri Nagar etc. got together & organised a protest on Sunday 20th at 5:30 pm from Lokhandwala Circle near the Swami Samarth temple & marched their way inside the Main Market Road & ended the march at Lokhandwala Oshiwara Citizen Association’s Ganpati Visarjan Pond.

This Protest was supported by Arunima – A woman-self help group & Lokhandwala Oshiwara Citizen Association.

There was torrential rain that day, right from early morning to late evening, still the protesters braved the weather & came out to take a stand against this barbaric act against children.

To raise awareness of this issue, an online petition was started on which has gone pretty viral gathering more than 1800 supporters

The people who organised the protest namely Dhaval Shah, Karan Jotwani, Vineesha Sarin, Prashant Rane, Surjeet Singh Dadiala, Sanjay Parasher, Indrani Ray, Ganesh Rao, Benita, Vivek Golani, Sailesh Sahadevan to name a few.

They will shortly frame revised rules & checklist which according to them should be followed by schools to prevent re-occurrence of such dastardly acts in schools against children, and wish to submit it to the Chief Minister & Education Minister in the coming days.
