Institute of Hotel Management, Catering Technology and Applied Nutrition(IHM) Mumbai along with Ministry of Tourism, Government of India organised launch of Swachhata Pakhwada on 15th September, 2017 at Juhu Beach in Mumbai. Around 70 students from IHM along with local public gathered for cleaning drive which began at 07.00 am.
Leading Bhojpuri and Hindi film actor Ravi Kishan graced the occasion and motivated students and public gathered during cleanliness drive. Faculty members Kaustubh Patil, Nandkumar Gaikwad, Abhishek Chowdhury and Prachi Singh were also present during the drive.
Faculty, students along with principal cleaned area and assured that they along with other students will actively participate in Swachhata Pakhwada which is observed from 15th September to 2nd October 2017.
The programme was coordinated by faculty members under the guidance of IHM Principal A K Singh. He highlighted and briefing about the notion of Swachhata Pakhwada – a Government of India initiative for spreading the message of cleanliness and working for it in a fortnight drive.
A.K. Singh, Principal IHM Mumbai said that “IHM, Mumbai will organize different completion, activities related to clean India Campaign in the Institute during Swachhta Pakhwada”.
It is worth mentioning that IHM Principal A K Singh briefed in details that “We have taken keen inititive to make cleanliness fortnight with natural spirit. Our students along with faculty members are involved to clean Dadar Beach for a week. Thereafter we will clean the Siddhivinayak Temple premises and surrounding area which has many shops. The BMC has granted us permission to cleanliness drive for 2 hours every day”.
Singh further elaborated “We have big plans under swachhta pakhwada. India Tourism along with IHM Mumbai will organise “World Tourism Day” in IHM Mumbai on 27thSeptember. There are many schools and colleges will participate in one day event. The event will include various activities such as Rangoli making, poster making on the theme of World Tourism and Cleanliness drive, debate competition and quiz contests to name a few”.
