The Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, in collaboration with other Central Ministries and State Governments organised a “Paryatan Parv” across the country from the 5th to 25th October 2017. On this line Institute of Hotel Management (IHM), Mumbai organised paryatan parv in Mumbai on 5th October, 2017. Students and staff of IHM Mumbai organised a rally. Regional Director – West & Central, India was also present during the rally.
A team of 70 student of 3rd year B.sc & Diploma in Food Production went on Veer Savarkar Road along with faculty member and met different stakeholder of Tourism including Shopkeepers, Food Outlets, Taxi driver and others.
Students were carrying pamphlets and talked to stakeholders and explained the importance of Tourism with the help of pamphlets & briefed them how to talk / deal with tourists. They also focus during interaction that domestic tourist are equally important for our economy and themselves.
Shopkeeper asked few questions also and took those pamphlets and assured that they will treat the International and domestic tourists well mannered so that they remain happy to visit Mumbai and come back to India again.
Arun Kumar Singh, Principal IHM Mumbai said “The objective of the Paryatan Parv is to draw focus on the benefits of tourism, showcase the cultural diversity of the country and reinforce the principle of – Tourism for All. Our students were happy to participate in the rally and got to know natural feedback from stake holders and tourists”.
