India’s commercial capital Mumbai was deprived of one of the world’s largest and most dynamic hotel groups “Radisson” for unknown reasons. Now, Mumbaikar have reason to cheer as Radisson groups first hotel is slated to be operational by end of December 2017. The Grand Sarovar Premier Hotel at Goregaon West would be rechristened as Radisson Mumbai Goregaon.
A highly placed source confirmed the latest development. The source revealed that Raj Rana Chief Executive Officer, South Asia at Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group has recently signed Memo of Understanding (MOU) with Hussain Balwa, owners of Grand Sarovar Premiere hotel. The source revealed that things are moving on fast mode to complete all the remaining formalities so the hotel can be re-branded before Christmas 2017. The hotel has undergone extensive change and renovation before the brand change which is visible from the lobby as well as banquet and rooms.
Currently Grand Sarovar Premiere and future’s Radisson Mumbai Goregaon hotel consists of 98 rooms falls into four star category, strategically located in Goregaon (West) junction of S V Road and Goregaon Mulund Link Road. The area is heartthrob of Mumbai’s commercial and IT centres.
The hotel has three functional restaurants namely 180 degree round the clock restaurant, The Tipsy Terrace open air restaurant and Liquid Lounge high end lounge bar. It also has high end Spa (Tattva Spa) with almost 5000 SqFt space with 5 individual spa rooms and a couple spa room, fitness centre, business centre and 11 banquet venues to offer with latest conferencing and banqueting services.
The source also revealed that Radisson group also signed MOU with upcoming 200 rooms property located near Saki Naka in Andheri East. The property is under primary stage of construction and slated to be operational in next two years.
Padmashri Awardee – Guinness Book Record Holder, Celebrity Grand Master Chef zSanjeev Kapoor on the arrival of Radisson Hotel in Mumbai beamingly said “Arrivai of Radisson hotel in Mumbai is a welcome move which was long overdue. It’s better late than never situation as Mumbaikars will certainly have one of the leading hospitality options to be a part of it. It’s a great way to immerse you in one of the city’s luxurious brand. Off-the-beaten-track experiences can go hand in hand with comfort and luxury. A typical World class experience will offer guests a different perspective. Each of Signature experiences is completely different and reflects the spirit and individuality of Radisson group which Mumbaikar’s were deprived of”.
It maybe noted that Radisson being one of the most prominent global hotel giant was trying to be part of Mumbai hospitality industry for long, but could not get hold to start any property for unknown reasons. The Radisson group was trying to open its first 316 room iconic property Radisson Powai Mumbai but due to some unknown reason it could not materialize. Now, that property is under management contract of Chedi group and yet to be opened.
Numerous attempts to get in touch with Rafiq Balwa, director of Hotel, Ajoy Balkrishna (GM – Grand Sarovar Premiere and Residency Sarovar Portico) and K B Kachru, Chairman Emeritus and Principal Advisor, Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group, South Asia were futile.
