Surender Mohan Corporate Indian Chef of The Leela Group of hotels has moved to London. He has joined as Culinary Director of Jamavar London and Bombay Bustle. He will oversee Michelin-starred restaurant Jamavar under his expertise. Current incumbent Chef Rohit Ghai is leaving the restaurant later this month.
Jamavar London showcases a wide array of flavours from across India. On the menu are dishes from the Royal Kitchens of the North along with succulent options from the shores of the South. The menu tasting plates are inspired by his travels to India, and the signature Jamavar dishes, are based on his deep dive into the culinary wealth of The Leela with its Chefs de Cuisine Surender Mohan.
Jamavar is known for its finest Indian cuisine all over. It has made its presence felt wherever it is located for authenticity and different dishes it has to offer. Jamavar London is the culinary jewel of The Leela group. Jamavar was first conceived in the late nineties by Dinesh Nair, co-chairman and managing director of The Leela Palaces, Hotels and Resorts. He, along with his daughter Samyukta Nair, plays an integral role in driving the latest addition to the portfolio towards excellence in every aspect.
It is the sixth restaurant within its family and the first outside the majestic sub-continent. First Jamavar opened in 2001 at The Leela Palace Bengaluru. It was named among the World’s Top 10 Power Dining Spots by Forbes USA. Over the next few years, it expanded to other internationally acclaimed Leela properties in New Delhi, Chennai, Goa and Mumbai.
