The mob lynching has become a trend in many part of the country these days causing life of many innocent people. But Mumbai still has its own unique culture to living together, irrespective of any caste, creed or religion. Politicians are much alert and aware to keep this spirit very high. The timely alertness of Mumbai MLA and BMC Corporators averted a mob lyinching in Versova area of Mumbai. And surprisingly they didn’t even want to take political mileage out of it. An onlooker and eye witness of the incident revealed the occurrence to this correspondent.
Dr Bharati Lavekar BJP MLA from Versova and Yogiraj Dabhadkar BMC Corporator came to rescue accused driver Hitesh Golchha of the speeding Jaguar car which rammed into several cars. Several people were injured and 10 vehicles damaged after his speeding luxury car Jaguar rammed into them at Versova area in Andheri on Monday. The viral video showing corporator Yogiraj saving accused from unruly mob.
Both, MLA and Corporator were heading their Versova in their car. They saw many people were gathered and banging on to acuused cars. Onlookers thrashed jaguar driver red and blue. The MLA and Corporator along with MLA’s body guards rushed to the spot and saved him from public wrath and handed him over to police. Had they not been there at the time of incidence, unruly mob might have lynched him.
It may be noted that crowd was so much angry on car driver that they literally thrashed him badly. The car has been damaged in such a bad condition that it might not be repaired and reuse.
MLA Dr. Bhrati Lavekar said “We are elected representative, safety and security of every public is our main concern. My personal bodyguard rescued jaguar driver from public wrath and handed him over to local police”.
Yogiraj Dabhadkar – Corporator said “A crowd should not turn unruly at any given time. Though we live in democratic country but that does not permit any individual to take law into their own hand. There is a police and court of law to take cognizance on any wrong doings. Public should be careful and avoid getting instigated and should not take law into their own hand”.
Mahesh Patil a local resident who was a witenessed to incidence said “The anger erupts when something goes wrong like yesterday’s incidence. The public has already damaged the car and thrashed him very badly. But if there was no support from MLA, corporator, bodyguard, some elderly people and police, unruly mob would have lynched him”.
Winne Saldanha – Goregaon Mahila Taluka President, Akhil Bhartiya Sena – says “Justice Yes! Mob Justice No! It is not in the psyche or the spirit of this city and its cityzens! Unruly mob is not acceptable as it is against the very fabric of our city. We are resilient people who believe in the law of the land and allow law to take its own course, the proof is the Bombay Blasts of 1993 and the course of law allowed and accepted by the Cityzens”.
