Suresh Thampy has recently appointed as Executive Chef at Holiday Inn Mumbai International Airport. Prior to his new assignment he worked at Sheraton Grand Bangalore at Brigade Gateway. He brings around two decades of hospitality experience. He will be transforming the hotel kitchen with a modern approach to classic cuisine, Holiday Inn Mumbai is known for. He will be responsible for Saptami, A contemporary multi cuisine all day dining restaurant, 72 Bar – a stylish and elegant looking lounge bar, room service and banqueting facilities. He is born in the family of defence personnel. He came to Mumbai when his father took voluntary retirement from Indian Air Force and Joined Air India in Mumbai.
Chef Thampy is born in Syrian Christian family in Kottayam in Kerala. He did his basic schooling from Air India School in Mumbai, higher secondary education from Bhavan’s College in Andheri and completed his catering education from Rizvi College of Hotel Management in Mumbai.
Beginning of Culinary journey:
Chef Thampi is specialising in Italian cuisine. Shortly after completing his catering degree, he joined Biscotti Italian restaurant in queen of suburb at Bandra in Mumbai. His successful culinary career record was inevitable from the natural passion he has for cooking and his aptitude for culinary expertise. In his culinary journey he has worked for Marriott hotels for almost 14 years, out of which he served as executive chef for 8 years. He has wealth of experience working for Courtyard Marriott, Mumbai, Madinat Jumeirah Dubai, JW Marriott Hotel, Mumbai, ITC Hotel Grand Maratha Sheraton & Towers Mumbai and many other prestigious properties.
During his tenure at various hotels he got many opportunities to enhance his skill internationally too. He worked for Madinat Jumeirah Dubai, he was a part of Task force for Marriott hotels in Puttrajaya , Malaysia and Cebu in Philippines.
In this role, Chef is responsible in functioning and processes of the hotel from setting the menu to ensuring the customers are served well, from mentoring the culinary team to sourcing the right candidates for Food and Beverage. Chef Thampy always plates up beautifully crafted wonders and ensures that guests have an authentic experience. His management style, attention to detail, and result oriented approach makes him the perfect choice for this role.
