IHM Mumbai Organised Valedictory Function

Institute of Hotel Management Catering Technology and Applied Nutrition, Mumbai celebrated its valedictory function on 6th April 2018 at its Shivaji Park College Campus. Farhat Jamal, Advisor special project, Taj Group of Hotels was the Chief Guest and Sameer Sud, General Manager of The Leela Hotel; Mumbai was guest of the Honour.

Those students who excelled in academics were awarded prizes which included a trophy, certificate and cheque, during the event. The Everest Masala trophy for excellence in first year, second year and third year were awarded to students who excelled in food production practicals and theories.

It may be noted that IHM Mumbai is the oldest and largest Institute of Hotel Management in Country. It was established in 1954 by All India Women Council and taken over by Union Government in 1963.  The Institute is offering 3 years B.Sc. Degree in Hospitality and Hotel Administration (H & HA programme) and Diploma in Food Production programme along with some short term programmes. The event was attended by dignities of Hotel & Restaurant Industry, parents of student, final Year students, Faculty members and Staff.


Arun Kumar Singh ? Principal IHM Mumbai said ?IHM Mumbai being oldest and prestigious Institute has list of famous alumni who have passed out from here. To give something back to society and institute, they contribute financially periodically.  Out of collective funds, we at the Institute give scholarships and awards to meritorious students for different courses during Valedictory function every year?.   


He further added ?There are many leading people and companies who sponsor awards, Trophies and Scholarships for meritorious and deserving students. It includes Tata Foundations scholarships to 10 Best Research Scholars, The Hotel and Restaurant Association of Western India (HRAWI) gives cash awards of Rs. 15,000 each to 20 students and Everest Masala give trophy and cash prize to the rank holders in Food Production of first, second and third year students?.

Sameer Sud ? General Manager, The Leela Mumbai said ?It was a pleasant and memorable moment to go back to IHM Mumbai after almost two and half decades. We all drift apart with our lives eventually but some of us get so busy with our lives that we are only able to visit our alma mater after many years and the changes that we see sends us into fits of nostalgia. When you see the students, you immediately start thinking of your College days and time you have spent here. I really enjoyed every bit and went back to my flashback of life?.
