The newly appointed Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia in Mumbai Ade Sukendar called on the Governor of Maharashtra Ch. Vidyasagar Rao at Raj Bhavan in Mumbai on Wednesday, 13th Mar 2019. It was an official courtesy visit which was held in cordial atmosphere to seek mutual cooperation in business, tourism, and cultural exchanges to strengthen ties between the two nations.
During his meeting with the Governor, Consul General of Indonesia, Ade Sukendar said "Even though Indonesia is the largest Muslim dominated country but there is a great deal of Indian culture and especially Sanskrit language. We use names like Vishnu, Indra despite Muslim religion. Indonesia is directly connected with national career Garuda Airlines for several years. There is a steady increase in the number of tourists coming to Indonesia from various parts of India. every year numbers of Indian tourists growing rapidly. Last year alone, more than 6 lakh Indian tourists visited Indonesia".
Bandung, Yogyakarta and Bali are prominent places in Indonesia of global importance. Here, local people kept Ramayana culture intact which is a Univeral Truth. Recently International Ramayana Festival held in Mumbai, where artist from Indonesia participated. The Ramayana show was attended by large numbers of crowd and was well appreciated too.Indonesian people likes Indian Bollywood movies and television serials which have a admirable viewership. Indonesian people have special attraction towards India and are largely attracted to Mumbai city. They they love Bollywood too. Last year the number of tourists coming to India from Indonesia is just 36000.
IIT Mumbai's branch in Indonesia: Consul General of Indonesia in Mumbai Ade Sukendar said "There was a highlevel discussion held in Indonesian government to launc a branch of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Mumbai in Indonesia. We are very keen on establishing IIT Mumbai branch in Indonesia".
Ch. Vidyasagar Rao Governor of Maharashtra said "Indonesia should cooperate with Maharashtra state through cultural relations, film production, tourism development, medicine creation and organic farming. This would help in enhancing relationsip between two countries".
