A traditional Teej festival was celebrated with much fanfare in Thane on Sunday,4th August, 2019. According to the Rajasthani tradition, in the month of Shravan, married ladies comes to their parent's home for Teej celebrations to enjoy with their family and friends on Swing (Jhoola) in their courtyard. It is an auspicious and most enjoyable occasion. At the celebrations these ladies also receive various gifts from their parents.
The Teej celebration was organized by R. R. family at Roda’s Enclave Club House, Hiranandani Complex in Ghodbunder Road, Thane. The programme was attended by many prominent ladies with their families. At this occasion a number of cultural performances were seen. There was a stall where Bangles and tattoos designing were done. All ladies were looking cheerful and wearing exclusive and traditional attire. A colorful floral swing was also installed where most of the women were happily clicking their photos and selfies.
Summan Agrawal, General Secretary of Maharashtra Pradesh Congress committee, National Secretary of Akhil Bharatiya Agrawal sammelan, women rights activist addressed celebration, she said “The festivals of Indian tradition are the source of unity. These festive celebrations help us to share each other’s happiness as well as enhance our self-confidence. During this event we get to meet our nearest and dearest family and friends.
There were many prominent ladies who have attended the event. It included Joint Commissioner of Income Tax Kranti Yadav, Sarita Raghuvanshi, wife of DIG of Maharashtra Police K.P. Raghuvanshi, Businesswomen Anita Tibarewal, Neelam Sawant and Savita Indoraiya. All the guests were felicitated by the Lord Ganapati's Attractive painting and basil (Tulsi) plants.
There was active participation of many people who made this event a grand success. These people included Rinkal Besawal, Rashi Jain, Anju Agrawal, Lakshna Sharma, Rashi Biani, Anu Tibrewal, Babita Agrawal, with Pintu Kumawat, Rajiv Agrawal, Manmohan Besawal, Vivek Sharma, Ranjan Agrawal and others.
On the eve of Hariyali Teej in Mathura on Friday, 3rd, 2019, BJP lawmaker and India’s lone Dream Girl Hema Malini, who is also an accomplished Indian classical dancer, performed at the Sri Radha Raman Temple in Vrindavan during the "Jhulan Utsav". Hema Malini is a two time sitting Member of Parliament from Mathura Constituency.
Teej is a generic name for a number of Hindu festivals that are celebrated by women mainly in Nepal and North India. Haryali Teej and Hartalika Teej welcome the monsoon season and are celebrated primarily by girls and women, with songs, dancing and prayer rituals. The monsoon festivals of Teej are primarily dedicated to Goddess Parvati and her union with Lord Shiva. It may be noted that Dream Girl Hema Malini, who is also a Member of Parliament from Mathura Constituency performed live dance in Mathura.
