China Consulate, Mumbai to celebrate Virtual Spring Festival

Consulate General of People’s Republic of China in Mumbai has geared up to celebrate virtual spring festival or Chinese New Year (Spring Festival) celebration on zoom. The Chinese New Year celebration event would be held live between 4 pm to 5 pm on 11th February, 2021.  Lunar festival is celebrated in mega way and with big bang in Mumbai, India and all across the Globe. Due to pandemic all the physical events are curtailed but to keep spirit high, virtual celebrations are organised.

Consulate General of China in Mumbai in Mumbai has organised a various events for Lunar Eve 2021 which would visible on Zoom platform. Numerous live programmes includes Beautiful India – Beautiful China photo exhibition video, Chinese Poetry & Painting by India China Academy Students, Dr. Dwarkanath Kotnis-ChiniChashma Video, Chinese Song by Confucius Institute of Mumbai University, Dance and Poetry by Blue Ocean Academy Students, Chinese Song by YehChina Students, Indian Classical Performance by Bharatanatyam dancer and teacher Charles Ma and Songs by Chinese Consulate in Mumbai.

 Leading dignitaries will share their views and remarks on the event during the live show. These prominent dignitaries includes His Excellency Tang Guocai, Consul General of China in Mumbai, Sudheendra Kulkarni – Indian Politician and Columnist, Dr. Yang Xuhong, Deputy General Manager – ICBC, Dr. G.H. Fernandes, President of ICFA and Dr. Ajit Ranade, Chief Economist of Aditya Birla Group to name a few.

 His Excellency Tang Guocai, Consul General of China in Mumbai, speaking with Mumbai Messenger Newspaper said “Due to the pandemic, this year we do not hold physical and live celebrations. We are glad that the virus is melting and it would be a thing of the past. We look forward to the final victory on the virus very soon. We are optimistic that all our cultural and other events would be held regularly in the near future. We wish all our fellow Indians a very happy lunar year.

 About Lunar New Year: The Lunar New Year, most commonly associated with the Chinese New Year or Spring Festival. It typically falls sometime between January 21 and February 20 annually. Lunar New Year 2021 is on February 12, and in terms of the Chinese zodiac animal, it’s the Year of the Ox. It’s called the Lunar New Year because it marks the first new moon of the lunisolar calendars traditional to many East Asian countries including China, South Korea, and Vietnam, which are regulated by the cycles of the moon and sun.
