Bombay HC grants bail to accused Vikram Bhave in Narendra Dabholkar murder case

On Wednesday, a Special court in Mumbai extended Mumbai police officer Sunil Mane’s custody to National Investigation Agency (NIA) till May 1.

Sunil Mane was taken into custody by the NIA for his alleged link into the Ambani bomb scare and Mansukh Hiren death cases. Reportedly, Mane helped his colleague Sachin Vaze who is the prime accused in the cases.

Special public prosecutor Prakash Shetty, representing NIA told the court that the probe by the NIA has revealed Mane’s involvement in Mansukh Hiren’s death.

Reportedly, Mane had taken Hiren’s phone and switched it off and then kept it in a bag.

The NIA told the court that Mane and Sachin Vaze had used an alias to call Hiren to Thane. Mansukh Hiren was later found dead in Thane creek on March 5.

The duo then took the businessman’s phone to Vasai and switched it on to stage Hiren’s presence in Vasai, NIA’s advocate further told the court.

Mane’s counsel Aditya Gore opposed the extension of his remand. However, the court decided to extend Sunil Mane’s custody till May 1.

Meanwhile, Sunil Mane is the third Mumbai police officer arrested in connection to the Anitilia bomb scare and Mansukh Hiren death cases.

Earlier, Sachin Vaze and Riyaz Kazi were arrested in the cases. Last week, the special court had extended the judicial custody of Vaze and Kazi till May 5.
