In a major relief, COVID-19 cases continue to drop further in Mumbai city. For the third day in a row, the number of new coronavirus patients being reported in the span of 24 hours remained below 2,000.
On Saturday (May 15), the city reported 1,447 cases against 1,657 on Friday and 1,946 on Thursday, taking the overall tally to 6,87,152.
However, the city continues to reported deaths above 50. With 62 people losing their lives today, the overall death toll has increased to 14,200.
Among those dead, 42 patients had co-morbidities and 44 were above the age of 60.
2,333 people were also recovered in the last 24 hours, taking the number of people discharged to 6,34,315.
The recovery rate stands at 93 per cent and doubling rate at 213 days.
With more recoveries, the active cases have come down to 36,674.
The civic body said that 34,896 tests were also conducted in a day.
With 87 active containment zones, 906 buildings are currently sealed.
