After causing widespread rains with gusty winds in Maharashtra and Gujarat, cyclone Tauktae is expected to bring showers in many other states including Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi due to its interaction with the western disturbance, informs Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday.
IMD also stated that the cyclone has weakened into a depression and is around south Rajasthan and adjoining parts of Gujarat today.
In its bulletin on Wednesday morning, IMD stated that the cyclonic “depression” was located around 60 km west-southwest of Udaipur in Rajasthan and 110 km of Deesa in Gujarat.
The IMD further predicted that it is likely to move north-eastwards across Rajasthan to west Uttar Pradesh in the next two days.
The depression is also likely to bring light to moderate places in east Rajasthan. It may also bring heavy rainfall at isolated places in Rajasthan on Wednesday.
The weather department further added that the cyclone may also cause heavy downpour at isolated places in Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, west Uttar Pradesh and west Rajasthan during the next 24 hours.
Uttarakhand is also on the radar for heavy to very heavy rainfall. IMD explained the weather condition in these states due to the cyclone’s interaction with the western disturbance.
