At least 75 street dogs were found poisoned to death in Ratnagiri city on Wednesday late night.
The dogs sound reading in pain by local volunteers who could do nothing but watch them die one by one, said Sabah Patankar.
A private veterinary doctor from Ratnagiri said that the postmortem is underway.
However, a woman official from Ratnagiri police station who identified herself as Shingade, said that a complaint lodged at Ratnagiri police station states that so far 21 dogs have been found dead across the city.
