CG emphasised; World’s largest nuclear power plant at Jaitapur will further promote business cooperation between both countries
Newly appointed Consul General of France in Mumbai His ExcellencyJean–Marc Séré–Charlet called on Governor of Maharashtra Bhagat Singh Koshyari at Raj Bhavan in Mumbai on Monday 20th December 2021. During his meeting with the Governor, CG had a cordial discussion on various topics. The CG apprised him that the successful commissioning of the Jaitapur project, the largest nuclear power plant in the world will further promote business cooperation between India and France.
In his conversation with Governor, CG said that France will be holding its cultural festival ‘Bonjour India’; thereafter India will also conduct its ‘Namaste France’ in France.
Governor Koshiyari emphasised that the Rafale deal has strengthened the strategic cooperation between India and France. He said French company Dassault Aviation is offering a vocational training programme at Government Industrial Training Institute in Nagpur, which is a good opportunity for our students for learning technical know-how from the French company.
About Bonjour India: It may be noted that France and India enjoy a substantive partnership at the core of which lie its people-to-people relations nurtured for decades through collaborations and exchanges. One of its manifestations is the regular rendezvous between two countries, Bonjour India. This artistic, cultural, educational and social initiative is an Indo-French moment put together by the French cooperation network in India mainly comprising of the Embassy of France and its cultural service, Institut Français en Inde, the Alliance Française network, the Consulates of France and many others in collaboration with our Indian partners, public and private. Bonjour India 4th edition will be held in India in the year 2022.
About Jean-Marc Séré-Charlet: Jean-Marc Séré-Charlet, 51, is a distinguished diplomat with more than two decads of years of experience in the diplomatic and cultural fields. He is an alumnus of the prestigious “Ecole nationale d’administration” (ENA). Prior to coming to Bombay, he was the Deputy Director at the United Nations Department of the French MFA for 6 years, furthering among others the French stance in the UN Security Council. He has also worked as Counsellor in the Embassy of France in Moscow and in the Permanent Representation of France to the European Union in Brussels, as Cultural Counsellor in the French Embassy in Rome and he was a diplomatic advisor to the Minister of Culture and Communication in Paris.
He is not new to India. He was Deputy Head of Mission at the French Embassy in New Delhi (2013-15) which allowed him to explore India quite intensely. CG Séré-Charlet has a strong interest and good knowledge of her culture, diversity, history and her way of life.
In his capacity as the CG of France in Bombay, along with the experienced Consular team, and under the authority of the Ambassador of France in India, HE Emmanuel Lenain, Séré-Charlet looks forward to developing partnerships and cooperation between France and India, namely, in the states of Goa, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh, Maharashtra, territories of Dadra and Nagar Haveli as well as Daman and Diu. He is convinced that France and India share values and interests that deserve to be expanded and strengthened in order to reinforce the long-term friendship between both countries.
