The youngsters in rural areas are competing with urban people to take a lead in the role of influencer and marching ahead phenomenally. The reach of the Smartphone is so vast that the Internet is no bar from the physical world. It has helped people in tier 2 cities pave their way to becoming influencers by hopping onto trending acts, brand promotions, and social media marketing.

The race to become famous, do collaborations, and grab the likes is not a piece of cake. But with so many different platforms to perform and showcase passion and talent, it has become a way to reach out to the audience. With over 200 million profiles on the Instagram platform, people in tier 2 cities have now blossomed into Micro-Influencers with their content creation.

It may be noted that in the last few years, especially post pandemic, social media became the only way to connect with the outside world. People from every area and age started exploring their lost hobbies and showcasing hidden talents on their social media accounts. Many things require detailed attention to gain popularity on social media like content creativity and quality, engagement with the audience, paid brand promotions, affiliate marketing, etc. to bag a solid number of likes, comments, and followings.

It’s worth mentioning here that an influencer with 5K-10K followers can earn up to 7000 INR for uploading one post on their profile. While there are many social media platforms with payment, Youtube is still one of the most accessible and used. It is a powerful social media where influencers can leverage their followers to buy products with certain discounts.

But to earn money on social media, the main step is to gain a loyal fanbase, create a better campaign, and put hands-on affiliate marketing irrespective of their fan base number. After gaining a certain number of followers, influencers can go for asking for money in sponsorship. With this method, they can recommend products that they enjoy using and get a small compensation if any user buys or signup on the recommended platform. Some influencers also create courses, e-commerce, and webinars in addition to their content.

For example, there is “That couple though”, which is a married couple & digital content creator from Jalandhar, Punjab. They have a single account handled by both husband and wife; it has short videos of entertainment, vines, vlogs, and song videos. They upload daily vlogs of their lives and make short reels on trending songs. Shedding light on the field of Influencer Marketing says, “Pushppal Singh Bhatia from That Couple Though says, their sole purpose of being on social media is to spread love. Social media has given us a platform to reach his potential audience who watches us sing, act, and dance. The recognition has made us appear in various Punjabi videos as well”.

“We are happy to share our thoughts and have fun through social media. With our reach of a good number of followers, it has been a delightful journey. Our success has made us capable enough to help out NGOs like Khalsa Aid and more” adds Ravneet Kaur from That Couple Though.
