Institute of Hotel Management Catering Technology and Applied Nutrition, fondly known as IHM Mumbai, is gearing up to commemorate its Platinum Jubilee, marking 70 illustrious years of excellence in the field of hospitality education. The grand celebration is scheduled to take place on February 17th, 2024, at Nesco Ground in Goregaon East. Since its inception, IHM Mumbai has been a trailblazer in nurturing the aspirations of countless students, shaping their dreams into reality.
The Platinum Jubilee event will witness the presence of eminent personalities from various spheres. Amitabh Kant, IAS (Retd.), will grace the occasion as the Chief Guest, while Nakul Anand, Former Executive Director of ITC Hotels, will be the Guest of Honour. Ms. Jayashree Bhoj, IAS, Principal Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of Maharashtra, and Chairperson of Institute of Hotel Management, Mumbai, will preside over the ceremony, adding further prestige to the event.
Established on June 27th, 1954, IHM Mumbai holds the distinction of being the oldest hospitality institute in South East Asia. Founded under the leadership of Smt. Lilavati Munshi by the All-India Women’s Central Food Council, the institute has been a pioneer in hospitality education in India. Over the past seven decades, IHM Mumbai has undergone remarkable transformations and achieved numerous milestones, solidifying its position as a beacon of excellence in the hospitality domain.
As part of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations, IHM Mumbai will facilitate its distinguished alumni, recognizing their outstanding contributions to the industry. A diverse array of awards will be conferred upon industry stalwarts, including the Hall of Fame award, Achievers Awards, Achievers Award entrepreneurs, and Other Industries Awards. Among the esteemed recipients of these accolades are luminaries such as Gev Desai, Param Kannampilly, Sonal Holland, and many more, whose exemplary achievements have left an indelible mark on the hospitality landscape.
Dr. Nisheeth Srivastava, Principal of IHM Mumbai, Reflecting on the institute’s illustrious journey, expressed immense pride in its evolution and accomplishments. From humble beginnings with just six students in 1954 to a cohort of over 50,000 graduates today, IHM Mumbai has played a pivotal role in shaping the hospitality industry’s future.
