Maharashtra Governor Ramesh Bais inaugurated the 5th edition of LOGIX INDIA 2024, the international flagship logistics event in Mumbai on Tue (26 Mar). The 3 -day exhibition and buyer – seller Meet LOGIX India has been organised by the Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO).
Complimenting FIEO for promoting India’s exports for the last six decades, the Governor said India’s transformation into a developed country depends on its performance in the logistics sector. He said in order to realize the goal of a $5 trillion economy by 2027, India should have better global logistics linkages.
The Governor said the government is taking measures such as creation of logistics parks, establishment of a common logistics platform and improving multi modal transport connectivity to support the growth of the logistics sector.
Stating that India is working towards realizing the vision of making India a global logistics hub, he said that initiatives like Sagarmala project, Bharatmala Project and National Logistics Policy were implemented to enhance the country’s logistics infrastructure, reduce costs and position India as a preferred logistics destination.
The Governor said in his capacity as Chancellor of 27 public universities in the State, he will ask all universities to work closely with FIEO. The Governor added that the universities have the capability to meet the requirement of skilled manpower for the logistics sector. The Governor released the official catalogue of the 5th edition on the occasion.
Managing Director of Shipping Corporation of India Shyam Jagannathan, Chairman of FIEO Ashwani Kumar, Commercial Director of SAIF Zone Raed Bukhatir, Regional Chairman of FIEO Paresh Mehta and members of the global logistics industry were present.
