Finnish Parliamentary Delegation Visits the Governor of Maharashtra

On Thursday, September 12, Maharashtra Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan welcomed Finnish Parliamentary delegation from the Commerce Committee. The delegation was led by Sakari Puisto, MP, and Chairman of the Commerce Committee. The meeting was held at the Governor’s official residence, Raj Bhavan in Mumbai.

The delegation, part of the Finnish Commerce Committee, was accompanied by Vice Chancellors from Mumbai University (MU), Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU), Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University (BAMU), and Mahatma Gandhi Mission’s University (MSSU) as well as His Excellency Erik af Hällström, Consul General of Finland in Mumbai.

The meeting marked the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between India and Finland. Both parties underscored the importance of this milestone and engaged in in-depth discussions on bolstering the Maharashtra-Finland partnership. Key areas of focus included advancing academic collaboration, research, artificial intelligence, and addressing climate change challenges.

India and Finland established diplomatic relations on September 10, 1949, marking the beginning of a warm and enduring relationship. Over the past 75 years, this partnership has expanded into diverse areas, including technology, education, trade, and sustainability. Recent official data shows a notable increase in India’s exports to the Nordic region, highlighting the growing economic ties. Both nations take pride in a partnership that has evolved through advancements in digitalization, sustainability, education, and innovation, reflecting a deep and multifaceted collaboration.
