Kashinath V Kale, a renowned Indian artist, is hosting an art exhibition at Jehangir Art Gallery in Mumbai, running from September 17-23, 2024. The exhibition was inaugurated by Nidhi Choudhary, IAS, Director of NGMA, Ministry of Culture, Government of India.
Hailing from Bellary, Karnataka, this is Kashinath V Kale’s second showcase at Jehangir Art Gallery, following numerous exhibitions at various venues. His works have also been procured by National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA) Delhi.
At the inauguration, Nidhi Choudhary remarked, “It was a pleasure to inaugurate this beautiful exhibition, featuring captivating artworks that reflect everyday life and ritualistic practices of rural Karnataka. His pieces depicting the boulders of Hampi were especially striking.”
She also shared her enjoyment in meeting author and photographer Pradeep Chandra during the event.
Regarding his boulder artworks, Artist Kashinath V Kale commented, “These boulders are not just stones; they are talking stones that convey the rich history of the Vijayanagar Empire.”
Nidhi Choudhary is an esteemed officer from the 2012 batch of the IAS cadre in Maharashtra. A TEDx speaker, painter, author, and former RBI and IAAS officer, she has held significant positions within the Maharashtra state government before joining NGMA. Notably, she served as Collector and District Magistrate for Raigad District and Mumbai Suburban District, as well as Joint Commissioner at Brihan Mumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and in the GST department. As an artist herself, she has a deep interest in the arts and is actively involved in organizing initiatives to support the artistic community in her current role.
