The Chinese Embassy and its Consulates across India have issued more than 50,000 visas to Indian nationals as of March 17, 2025, according to an announcement by Chinese Ambassador to India, Xu Feihong. The announcement was shared through a post on the social media platform X.

Ambassador Xu outlined several key measures taken by Chinese authorities to simplify the visa application process for Indian travellers. These include the removal of the mandatory online appointment system, an exemption from biometric data collection for short-term stays, and a reduction in visa fees.

“As of March 17, 2025, the Chinese Embassy and Consulates in India have issued over 50,000 visas to Indian citizens traveling to China,” Ambassador Xu posted. “We have implemented several measures to make it easier for Indian nationals to visit China, such as eliminating the online appointment requirement, exempting biometric data collection for short-term stays, and reducing visa fees.”

In a seasonal greeting, Ambassador Xu further expressed, “As the flowers bloom in Spring, we are excited to welcome more Indian friends to visit China and experience the beauty of the country in this vibrant season.”

These streamlined visa procedures are expected to significantly boost tourism, business, academic, and cultural exchanges between India and China. By easing access, both countries hope to strengthen bilateral ties and provide Indian visitors with greater opportunities to experience China’s rich history, culture, and modern developments.
