Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, during his visit to Wardha district, announced a slew of impactful initiatives aimed at improving electricity access, reducing power costs, and enhancing housing infrastructure for farmers and residents across the state.

Fadnavis declared that 80% of Maharashtra’s farmers will now receive at least 10 hours of electricity daily, with plans underway to ensure day-long supply in the future. He also revealed that electricity bills will see a yearly reduction, making Maharashtra the first state in the country to implement a bill-cutting policy every five years, offering significant relief to consumers.

A major boost to clean energy was highlighted with the development of a 500 MW power generation plant at the Lower Wardha project, positioning the district to become solar self-sufficient. Neri Mirzapur village has already been fully electrified through solar energy, setting an example for rural sustainability.

Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, each house will receive ₹2 lakh assistance and be equipped with solar energy systems, enabling free power for beneficiaries. Fadnavis also stressed the need for implementing the well recharge scheme, which can boost groundwater levels and support irrigation.

He assured that a special meeting will be held in Wardha to address the pending demands of MLAs and MPs, citing his past role as the district’s Guardian Minister.

These initiatives reflect the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Shivraj Singh Chouhan, focusing on affordable housing and sustainable energy for all citizens.
