Mumbai Airport Customs Foil Drug Smuggling Attempt; Cocaine Worth ₹7.85 Cr. Seized

In a major interdiction, Customs Officers at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International (CSMI) Airport, Mumbai seized suspected cocaine weighing approximately 785 grams, with an estimated illicit market value of ₹7.85 crore, on 09/10 April 2025. One foreign national has been arrested in connection with the case.

  According to a press release issued by the Customs Department, the seizure was made following spot profiling of a passenger who arrived in Mumbai on Flight No. UR430 on April 9, 2025. During preliminary questioning, the individual exhibited signs of nervousness and uneasiness, leading officers to initiate further inquiry.

  Subsequent medical examination revealed that the passenger had swallowed multiple yellow-coloured pellets. Under medical supervision, and as recorded in the Panchanama dated April 13, 2025, the pellets were recovered and found to contain a white, crumbled substance suspected to be cocaine.

  The total net weight of the recovered contraband is approximately 785 grams, with a street value estimated at ₹7.85 crore. The passenger has been arrested under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. Further investigation is currently underway.
