Over 70 nations joins: tribute paid to Pahalgam terror attack victims

In the run-up to Maharashtra Day, Governor C P Radhakrishnan hosted a special reception for members of the diplomatic corps at Raj Bhavan on Tuesday. The event, organised by the State Protocol Department on the initiative of Minister of Protocol Jaykumar Rawal, brought together consular representatives from more than 70 countries.
The reception opened on a somber note, with diplomats joining state leaders in observing a one-minute silence to honour the victims of the recent terror attack in Pahalgam.
Governor Radhakrishnan, along with Minister Rawal, personally welcomed and interacted with each member of the consular corps, underscoring the state’s commitment to fostering international relations.
The event saw the presence of several key dignitaries, including Legislative Council Chairman Prof. Ram Shinde, Tourism Minister Shambhuraj Desai, Skill Development Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha, Agriculture Minister Manikrao Kokate, Ports and Fisheries Minister Nitesh Rane, and Textile Minister Sanjay Sawkare.
Senior officials such as Director General of Police Rashmi Shukla, Additional Chief Secretary (Protocol) Manisha Mhaiskar, Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar, and BMC Administrator Bhushan Gagrani were also in attendance.
The reception began with the police band performing the National Anthem and the State Song. Secretary to the Governor, Dr. Prashant Narnavare, delivered the formal welcome address to the assembled diplomats.
The evening concluded with a second rendition of the National Anthem, as Maharashtra prepares to mark its Foundation Day on May 1.
