Governor Presents Police Medals to 83 Officers and Personnel

Maharashtra Governor C. P. Radhakrishnan presented the Police Gallantry Medals, President’s Police Medals for Distinguished Service, and Police Medals for Meritorious Service to 83 police officers and personnel at a formal Investiture Ceremony held at Raj Bhavan, Mumbai on Thursday.

  The medals were conferred based on announcements made by the President of India on the occasion of Independence Day in 2021 and 2022. The ceremony recognised the bravery, commitment, and exemplary service of police personnel from across the state.

  A total of 41 officers and personnel were awarded the Police Gallantry Medal for acts of exceptional courage in the line of duty. Three officers were honoured with the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service, while 39 officers and personnel received the Police Medal for Meritorious Service in recognition of their long-standing contributions to law enforcement.

  The event was attended by Minister of State for Home (Rural) Dr. Pankaj Bhoyar, Director General of Police Rashmi Shukla, Commandant General of Home Guards Ritesh Kumar, Director General of Maharashtra State Police Housing and Welfare Corporation Archana Tyagi, and Mumbai Police Commissioner Deven Bharti. Also present were senior serving and retired police officials, along with family members of the medal recipients.

  The names of the decorated officers and personnel were officially announced during the ceremony. The event reflected the state’s gratitude and recognition of those who have gone above and beyond in safeguarding public safety and upholding the rule of law.
