Fairfield by Marriott Mumbai International Airport is rolling out the red carpet for gastronomes, offering more than just a meal — it’s an invitation to step into the pages of Mumbai’s culinary history. The Pathare Prabhu Food Festival, hosted at the hotel’s signature restaurant Mado Mado, celebrates one of the city’s oldest and most culturally rich communities. Known for its distinctive coastal flavors and intricate spice profiles, the Pathare Prabhu cuisine is a true reflection of traditional meeting taste. This festival promises an immersive dining experience where every dish narrates a story of heritage, craftsmanship, and timeless recipes passed down through generations.
This isn’t just a buffet — it’s a cultural immersion. The festival is curated by Chef Bimba Nayak, a living encyclopedia of the Pathare Prabhu kitchen, with an astounding 52 years of culinary mastery. Known for preserving the recipes of one of Mumbai’s oldest communities, Chef Nayak will personally engage with diners, narrating the stories behind every dish.
Guests can indulge in a spread featuring iconic dishes like Mutton Sukhe, Surmai Fry, Ravas Methkutache, Vangi Panchamrutachi, and Ananas Sambhare. The showstopper? A live Ukdiche Modak station, where the traditional steamed modaks are handcrafted right before your eyes.
Chef Bimba Nayak says, “Heritage should never be forgotten, especially when it tastes this good. Our festival is about reviving the Pathare Prabhu flavors that shaped Mumbai’s culinary identity and giving them the stage they truly deserve.”
Iftekhar Mehdi, General Manager of Fairfield by Marriott Mumbai International Airport, said: “We at Fairfield take pride in curating the finest culinary experiences, from local treasures to global flavors. Pathare Prabhu cuisine is truly a hidden gem, celebrated for its distinctive and refined taste. With the holy month of Shravan approaching, when many refrain from consuming non-vegetarian food, this festival is our way of offering Mumbaikars a taste of heritage before the season begins. Under the expertise of Chef Bimba Nayak, a true authority on Pathare Prabhu delicacies, we aim to revive lost recipes and share a legacy that deserves the spotlight.”
For those who crave more than just a meal, this festival is an edible history book — with every bite, a story unfolds.
