The Governor of Maharashtra C. P. Radhakrishnan presented the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service to Principal Secretary (Home) Anup Kumar Singh at a grand Investiture Ceremony held at Raj Bhavan, Mumbai on Tuesday, July 29. A total of 106 police officers and personnel were honoured with prestigious medals for their outstanding service and gallantry.
The medals, announced on Independence Day 2022 and 2023 and Republic Day 2023 and 2024, recognised bravery, dedication, and long-standing contributions to the police force.
Of the 106 awardees, 64 police officers received the Police Medal for Gallantry, 4 senior officers were conferred the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service, and 38 officers and personnel were presented with the Police Medal for Meritorious Service.
Among the key honourees were Special Inspector General of Police (Law and Order) Dr. Manoj Kumar Sharma, who received the Meritorious Service Medal, and Anup Kumar Singh, whose decoration with the President’s Police Medal was a highlight of the ceremony.
The event was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Minister of State for Home (Urban) Yogesh Kadam, Director General of Police Rashmi Shukla, and senior police officials, along with family members of the medal recipients.
The Investiture Ceremony celebrated the courage, integrity, and devotion of Maharashtra’s police force and served as a reminder of their vital role in safeguarding public security and upholding the rule of law.
