The Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Mumbai hosted a grand reception on Thursday evening to mark the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. The event took place at the Crystal Room of the iconic Taj Mahal Palace Hotel and was attended by Raj Gopal Deora IAS, dignitaries, diplomats, business leaders, and members of the Chinese and Indian communities.
The evening commenced with the national anthems of both China and India, setting a tone of mutual respect and goodwill. Maninsha Mhaiskar Patankar IAS, Chief Protocol Officer of the Government of Maharashtra, was the chief guest. Following the anthems, Consul General Mr. Qin Jie formally welcomed the guests and delivered his address, emphasizing the enduring ties between China and India.
In his speech, H.E. Qin highlighted the expanding cooperation between the two countries in trade, culture, and regional affairs. He reaffirmed China’s commitment to peaceful development and international collaboration, while underlining the importance of dialogue and mutual understanding in strengthening bilateral relations.
The reception featured a vibrant array of cultural performances and a showcase of authentic Chinese cuisine, creating an atmosphere that seamlessly combined celebration with diplomacy. The event marked China’s National Day, which commemorates the founding of the People’s Republic of China on October 1, 1949, and provided an opportunity to celebrate the nation’s achievements.
Among the distinguished attendees were representatives from the Maharashtra government, business and academic leaders, leading media personnels and members of the consular corps. Notably, consuls general from other countries also attended, including Priyanga Wickramsinghe CG of of Sri Lanka, Monica Nagelgaard CG of Norway, Quang Bien Lien CG of Vietnam, Martin Maier CG of Switzerland, Yagi Koji CG of Japan, Arvind Bucktowar CG of Mauritius, Paul Murphy CG Of Western India, Aliaksandr Matsukou CG of Belarus and Zuari Yusoff CG of Malaysia and Donnawit Poolsawat CG of Thailand.
Maninsha Mhaiskar Patankar, in her address, highlighted the significance of fostering strong diplomatic and cultural ties between India and China and praised the Consulate General for organizing the reception as a platform to enhance mutual understanding.
The celebration underscored the importance of China’s National Day not only as a national milestone but also as an occasion to strengthen people-to-people connections and promote goodwill between China and India. The event reflected the ongoing commitment of both nations to enhance cooperation and build lasting relationships across diplomatic, cultural, and economic spheres.
