In a major step towards strengthening Maharashtra’s green energy sector, the World Trade Center (WTC), Mumbai and the All India Association of Industries (AIAI) signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with MAHAPREIT (Mahatma Phule Renewable Energy & Infrastructure Technologies Limited), a Government of Maharashtra enterprise, on Friday.
The agreement seeks to attract international investors, technology providers, and industry leaders to Maharashtra while ensuring smooth project implementation, government coordination, and policy support for renewable energy initiatives.
WTC Mumbai, known for its strong global network and outreach with MSMEs, start-ups, and women entrepreneurs, will leverage its platform to connect domestic and global businesses. MAHAPREIT, meanwhile, brings its expertise in renewable energy and sustainable infrastructure, with a focus on waste-to-energy projects, e-mobility, and green technologies.
The MoU was signed by Bipin Shrimali, Managing Director of MAHAPREIT, along with Dr. Vijay Kalantri, President of AIAI, and Priya Pansare, Director of Trade and Investment Promotion, WTC Mumbai.
Officials said the partnership would unlock investment opportunities in rooftop solar, MSME decarbonization, and other emerging green technologies, further cementing Maharashtra’s position as one of India’s premier destinations for sustainable business and infrastructure development.
A key focus of the collaboration will be on promoting renewable energy adoption among MSMEs and women entrepreneurs, besides working with government agencies and policymakers to frame favorable policies for green technology.
The move comes as Maharashtra pushes toward its $1 trillion GDP target, with renewable energy expected to play a pivotal role. By aligning the green transition with inclusive growth, the state hopes to build a resilient and sustainable economy, with MSMEs and women entrepreneurs as key stakeholders in this journey.
