The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Keir Starmer arrived in Mumbai this morning. He was welcomed by Acharya Devvrat, Governor of Maharashtra and Gujarat, and Devendra Fadnavis, Chief Minister of Maharashtra.
The occasion was also attended by Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar, Protocol Minister Jaykumar Rawal, and senior government officials. The Prime Minister’s visit to Mumbai is being seen as an effort to strengthen bilateral ties between India and the UK, as well as to enhance cooperation in trade, investment, and cultural exchange.
During the welcome ceremony, senior officials briefed Prime Minister Starmer on key tourism and commercial landmarks in the state. Discussions also focused on exploring potential avenues to boost trade and economic collaboration between the two nations.
The UK Prime Minister’s visit is considered significant for Mumbai, not only from an international diplomatic perspective but also for opening new opportunities in trade and investment for both the state and central governments.
Several high-level meetings and formal programs are scheduled during the visit, including bilateral discussions with representatives from various sectors and industry leaders.
Officials and dignitaries present at the ceremony described the visit as a positive step toward strengthening friendly and cooperative relations between India and the United Kingdom.
