Ace Indian field hockey striker Yuvraj Walmiki tied the knot with Veeha Thakre, daughter of veteran politician Vikas Thakre, in a grand ceremony held on Valentine’s Day. The wedding drew guests from all walks of life, including leading hockey players from India and abroad, as well as top politicians, bureaucrats, and senior officials who came to bless the couple.
Veeha Thakre, a law graduate pursuing her Masters in criminal law, is part of a prominent political family and has received full support from her parents in both personal and professional pursuits. The couple had met through social circles and marked their engagement in Nagpur prior to the wedding.
Yuvraj Walmiki, born in Mumbai on 29 November 1989, is a celebrated forward of the Indian national hockey team. He has represented India in tournaments such as the 2011 Asian Champions Trophy and the 2014 Hockey World Cup, earning over 50 international caps. He has also played in the German Hockey League, appeared on the reality show “Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi”, and made his acting debut in a web series.
Vikas Thakre, senior Congress leader and MLA from Nagpur West, who has twice served as Mayor of Nagpur and heads the Nagpur District Congress Committee, was warmly present at the wedding, lending political significance to the celebrations attended by dignitaries, friends, and family.
The Nagpur wedding celebrated both the personal joy of the couple and Walmiki’s sporting achievements, drawing heartfelt blessings from family, friends, dignitaries, and officials alike.
