Maharashtra Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan hosted an official luncheon reception at his residence, Raj Bhavan, in honor of New Zealand’s Prime Minister Christopher Luxon, on March 19th, 2025, The reception was attended by prominent leaders and dignitaries, including Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Chairman of Maharashtra Legislative Council Prof. Ram Shinde, Speaker of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Rahul Narwekar, and various ministers, as well as former Governor-General of New Zealand During the reception, Prime Minister Christopher Luxon expressed New Zealand’s eagerness to collaborate with India, particularly with Maharashtra, in fields such as renewable energy, education, sports, agricultural technology, dairy development, and emerging areas like Artificial Intelligence. He praised New Zealand’s reputation for good governance and transparency and reiterated the country’s commitment to working closely with India. Luxon also shared his enthusiasm about India’s potential bid to host the 2036 Olympics, noting New Zealand’s strong Olympic track record and its willingness to extend support in the realm of sports. Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan welcomed the New Zealand Prime Minister and emphasized the importance of fostering greater cooperation between universities in Maharashtra and those in New Zealand, particularly in higher education. He proposed initiatives such as student exchanges and semester transfers to enhance academic collaboration.
