Shivsena Shakha Distributes Khichdi for Needy in Malad East Area

With patronage of MP Kirtikar & MLA Prabhu Shakha Pramukh S Dhanuka distribute Khichdi with support from Annonymus Donors  

In the wake of the lockdown in our country due to the coronavirus pandemic, many individual and social organisation have come forward to reach out to many needful people, serving them cooked food. Shiv Sena Shakha pramukh Shubhash Dhanuka of Shakha number 44 has geared up and started a community kitchen based at Malad in Mumbai. They are preparing Khichdi in huge quantities for the for the needy people in and around Dindoshi area of Malad East in Mumbai. 

They have hired professional cooks especially “Maharaj” from various areas who became jobless due to lock down. They are taking all preventive and necessary safety measures and hygiene levels while cooking. Around 20 to 25 maharaj’s are busy cooking Khichdi. The kitchen is installed in Rane Hospital Compound at Kurar Village in Malad East area.  

Subhash Dhanuka, Shiv Sena Shakha pramukh of shakha number 44 said “With the patronage of MP Gajanan Kirtikar and MLA Sunil Prabhu, we are preparing Khichdi for needy people for around 10.000 people on daily basis. Healthy khichdi is prepared twice in a day for lunch and dinner. We ensure to maintain proper hygiene from all the angle, so healthy meal is served to them. We distribute khichdi by autorickshaws and car to reach it to needy people. We have obtained police permission to travel in surrounding areas where poor and needy people stays”.

Minister – Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti, Cabinet Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal, Padmashri Chef Sanjeev Kapoor, Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev preparing Khichdi to get into Guinness Book of World Records.

Dhanuka added “Many wel loff persons from surrounding area have come forward to donate various ingredients like Rice, Ghee, Oil, Dal and other items which are used in cooking Khichdi. I am just a messenger or mediator to do this social cause. Actual help comes from various people, who are supporting whole heartedly during this time of crisis. Those who are donating doesn’t want to remain annonymus, they are strictly said that their name should not be mentioned as we don’t want to take credit of it. They are firm believer of kindness and want to help needy at the time of crisis.    

Dhanuka further added “We received a huge response from the first day of distributing Khichdi. Khichdi has come as a great relief, as there is a crisis of food item at various home. There is a good population of slum and poor needy people who reside in the areas like Vadar Pada, Dindoshi Pada, Indira Nagar Kurar, Dhanji Wadi, Ambedkar Nagar Opp. Alta Monte building on Western Express Highway and Pathan Wadi to name a few.

Chef Sanjeev Kapoor – Padma Shri Awardee and Grand Master Celebrity Chef who made Khichdi Globally popular, by entering in Guinnes Book of World Record exclusively speaking to Mumbai Messenger, said “I am happy to know that during the crisis time of Corona outbreak, Khichdi is chosen to be distributed for needy people. Khichdi is a complete meal, a solution to those depending on food supplements. It is rich with all nutrition,healthy superfood not only domestic but also international market. A wholesome superfood known as ‘Brand India Food’ . It is a wholesome food as it contains most of the nutrients. It also symbolises the country’s unity in diversity. I am sure those who are consuming Khichdi, would never forget the taste of it.”

It is a  noble cause of distributing cooked khichdi to needy people of the area. There are many labourers who are stuck due to lockdown and have no arrangements for cooking food. It is a boon for them as they are getting Khichdi for lunch and dinner, so atleast they would not sleep empty stomach. Though, some are distributing groceries but it is really a great help for them”.
