Indonesia celebrated its 75th Independent Day on 17 August 2020. Indonesian Embassy in India and Consulate General of Indonesia in Mumbai are arranging an “Online Streaming” of world famous “Ramayana Ballet” to mark this solemn occasion.

The virtual performance of Ramayan will be held on Saturday, 5th September 2020 from 06.30 pm – 08.30 pm IST on Zoom and YouTube platform. To begin with, there would be speeches of prominent dignitaries from both the countries. Thereafter, it would be followed by the online streaming of Ramayana Ballet from 07.00 pm – 08.30 pm. Ramayana Prambanan is a show that combines dance and drama without dialogue, based on the Ramayana story. The live performance will be streaming live directly from the stage in front of “Prambanan Temple” which is the biggest Hindu Temple in Indonesia. The Ramayan Ballet is organized in association with the National Authority of Prambanan Hindu Temple in Jogjakarta.

This anniversary is a milestone following the Indonesian people’s long struggle for independence. The Indonesian and Indian relations are known for growing stronger year after years. It was in 1950, the first President of Indonesia, Sukarno, called upon the peoples of Indonesia and India to “intensify the cordial relations” that had existed between the two countries “for more than 1000 years.

His Excellency Agus Prihatin Saptono, Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia in Mumbai

His Excellency Agus Prihatin Saptono, Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia in Mumbai, speaking to Mumbai Messenger Newspaper said “The purpose of this event is to promote one aspect of Indonesian cultures to our friends, the people of India. At the same time, we would like to show to the public here the close relationship between Indonesia and India, specifically from the cultural side. Both Countries have their own version of traditional dance of Ramayana. This time, we would like to show the people of India, especially in Mumbai and Maharashtra, Indonesian version of Ramayana Ballet. Due to the pandemic of Covid-19, we cannot bring the Ramayana Dancers to perform the dance live in Mumbai. Luckily, expansion of the Information of Technology makes it possible for us here to watch virtually a live performance of Ramayana Ballet from the stage in front of “Prambanan Temple”, the biggest Hindu Temple in Indonesia”.

It is worth mentioning here that Ramayana Ballet of Indonesia is one of the popular shows globally. It is watched not only by Indians but tourists from all over the world, who visit Indonesia. So, it’s a golden opportunity for Indians to watch the show live and awaken your spirituality to go back to ancient time of Ramayana.
