Sushant Singh Rajput posthumously honoured with Dadasaheb Phalke award

The Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival Awards 2021, has honoured late actor Sushant Singh Rajput with the Critics’ Best Actor accolade at the award ceremony held on Saturday.

Sushant, who kick-started his acting career in 2008 with the television show Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil, became a household name after playing the character of Manav Deshmukh in ZEE TV’s hit show Pavitra Rishta opposite Ankita Lokhande.

After quitting the show when its popularity was at its peak, Singh transitioned to films and made his Bollywood debut with Kai Po Che (2013). For his honest performance in the film, the actor bagged many awards.

The official Instagram account of Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival announced the award and wrote, “Celebrating the dedication you have shown on the way to this achievement. Congratulations to Late @sushantsinghrajput for winning the Critics’ Best Actor award at Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival Awards 2021. We miss you!”

The actor was found dead at his Bandra apartment on 14th June 2020. His last film was Dil Bechara which premiered on Disney+ Hotstar weeks after his death and received thunderous response.
