Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s upcoming film Gangubai Kathiawadi has locked a new date for its theatrical release.
Earlier scheduled to hit the marquee on 11th September, 2020, the period drama will now release on July 30, 2021. It stars Alia Bhatt in the lead role of Gangubai Kothewali, a sex worker who went on to rule the red-light district of Kamathipura in Mumbai.
Announcing the new release date of Gangubai Kathiawadi on social media on Bhansali’s birthday, Alia Bhatt shared a new poster of the film, in which she can be seen sporting a pastel green traditional outfit, a bindi with her hair styled in a side braid. “In cinemas July 30, 2021,” the actress wrote in the caption of her post.
Gangubai Kathiawadi also features Ajay Devgn. The superstar plays the role of a mobster, as per reports. He eventually falls in love with Gangubai while teaching her the tricks of the trade.
Hours after dropping the new poster, the makers also shared the teaser of the film which has received warm response from the audience.
Gangubai Kathiawadi releases on July 30, 2021.
