Today’s COVID-19 figure crosses the 5k mark in Mumbai

Mumbai reports 1,447 new COVID cases, 62 deaths

With the second wave of COVID-19 increasing rapidly in Mumbai, the city reported 5067 cases of COVID 19 on Wednesday. The number of deaths is yet to be tabulated.

On Tuesday, the city had 3512 cases and eight deaths.

Dr Gautam Bhansali of Bombay Hospital said, “The testing is increased to 45000 per day and it will increase further. We will see more cases coming in. Hospitals are ready and private hospitals have also increased their beds.”

Social Welfare Minister Dhananjay Munde is admitted to Bombay hospital due to the disease for the second time. He had complained of having a fever and vomiting.

Earlier, environment minister Aaditya Thackeray was detected with COVID and on Wednesday, actor Aamir Khan was detected positive for the COVID 19.

On Tuesday, the BMC administration called the deans and superintendents of all major hospitals and told them to be prepared for 10000 cases per day out of which at least 2000 will require hospitalisation and neighbouring Thane is preparing for 1000 cases per day.
