Shiv Bhojan thali to be provided as parcels across Maharashtra

In view of the COVID-19 restrictions, the government on Tuesday said that Shiv Bhojan thali will be provided as a parcel.

₹5 food plate, under which food is served to the poor, is a pet scheme of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA).

Food and Civil Supplies Minister Chhagan Bhujbal said that hotels and restaurants have been asked to provide parcel service only in order to avoid crowding and maintain physical distancing., therefore, at Shiv Bhojan centers too, the thali will be provided in parcels.

The price will continue to be ₹5 per thali, Bhujbal said.

Today, a total of 10,030 people tested positive for coronavirus in the city of Mumbai, taking the overall tally to 4,72,332.

The city also saw a spike in deaths with 31 people succumbing to the virus in the last 24 hours.
