Chef Gianfranco, a highly-skilled professional recognised for his comprehensive knowledge in Italian food, who hails from the provincial capital of Chieti, has joined Grand Hyatt Mumbai Hotel and Residences as its Italian Head Chef. Having a rich experience of over two decades in managing fine dining, he is known for redefining the art of cooking, developing impressive menus and preparing culinary dishes influenced by culturally diverse regions around the globe. He shall take the helm as Italian Chef at Mumbai’s most sought after Italian dining restaurant, Celini. Chef Gianfranco’s last assignment was as an Italian Chef at Hyatt Regency Chandigarh.
Chef Gianfranco, born in a province known for its rich heritage, famous cathedrals and museums, hails from an Alma Mater of repute – G.Marchitelli Culinary College, Villa Santa Maria – Chieti – Italy. The province was once also known for its rich heritage, famous cathedrals and museums.
Chef Gianfranco aims to bring the flavours of the Abruzzi province to the world through his masterful culinary expertise. He has been awarded multiple awards and accolades throughout his career. He has also earned a Merit Diploma for a recipe released by F.I.C. (Italian Chef Federation) and A.C.V.S. (Villa Santa Maria Chef Association).
As Chef Gianfranco takes on his next assignment as Head Chef of Grand Hyatt Mumbai’s Italian Signature restaurant Celini, he states, “It is a great pleasure to take up my new role as head Chef of Celini at Grand Hyatt Mumbai Hotel and Residences. It will be exciting to implement my skills and knowledge and bring to the people of Mumbai, authentic and traditional flavours from my home country-Italy.

Award and accolades: Chef Gianfranco is culinary par excellence, while working at Hyatt Regency Chandigarh, he won the title of “Chef of the Year” (while) his restaurant was awarded the “Best Italian Fine Dining restaurant in the city” accolade at the Times Food and Nightlife Awards 2019. He has also been an ambassador on various fronts such as in 2011; he became the Ambassador in the world of traditional Cuisine of Abruzzi, in 2014, Ambassador in the world of Italian Bio Extra Virgin Olive Oil, and lately in 2015, the Ambassador in the world of Pentole Agnelli professional cookware. Not only has the chef excelled on a professional front, but has also represented Italy and Italian cuisine at the 5th Italian Cuisine in the World Forum in Greece.
