ITC Maratha launches three-day 75th Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav

Arts from Samta Foundation on display at ITC Maratha

The hotel will showcase tribal art collective and special culinary showcase from Pathare Prabhu Community

As part of the celebrations for “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, 75th Independence Day” ITC Maratha hotel in Mumbai chalked out a plan to celebrate, in a unique way. The hotel has joined hands with Samta Foundation to host three (3) days Open House for cultural and art collective from Palghar tribal artisans. It is one of its kind to celebrate the Palghar community known for their flair for Warli art, bamboo and paper mache artwork.

During the three-day from 13th to 15th August, art collective artistan from Palghar will be curating live demonstrations and workshop at the venue for guests to witness the intricacies of these creation and learn more about the indigenous tribal lifestyle making it a wholesome immersive experience.

The outreach initiative is in line with ITC Hotels’ philosophy of enabling authentic indigenous experiences in harmony with environment & society. The nuanced architecture and 21 years of landmark presence of ITC Maratha weaves in the strongest elements of the culture of the region – harking back through architecture, culinary treasures, interiors, art and artefacts to the major dynasties and cultural influences from Indian history.

It may be noted that Palghar is Maharashtra’s leading district which was carved out from Thane district in 2014. It has the largest population of tribal communities who are artisans and their Warli paintings are world renowned.
