China-Russia to build strategic partnership as President Xi Jinping concludes Moscow trip

In a joint statement signed and released by Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Kremlin, the two countries have stressed upon building a comprehensive strategic Partnership. The two sides would like to see the end of the Ukraine crisis through a dialogue. China’s President spent three days in Russia discussing a range of issues with Vladimir Putin

President Xi said, “I’ve built a close relationship with President Putin in the past 10 years. We agreed that the relations between our two nations go way beyond ourselves. They are crucial to the world order and mankind’s future and destiny.” Russia appreciated China’s “objective and fair” stance on Ukraine. At a state dinner hosted by Putin, he claimed that “Russia-China relations were at the highest point ever.

Earlier, Chinese president Xi Jinping visited Moscow upon invitation of Russian President Vladimir on 20th March, 2023. President Putin extended a warm welcome to President Xi for his state visit to Russia and congratulated him on his re-election as Chinese President. He appreciated China’s achievements in all areas of development during the past ten years.

President Xi stressed that there is a profound historical logic for China-Russia relationship to reach where it is today. Both are committed to realizing national development and rejuvenation, support world multi-polarity and work for greater democracy in international relations.

The two sides also signed a joint statement on the development planning for the key directions of China-Russia economic cooperation before 2030. Xi invited Putin to travel to China for the third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation this year.
