Governor, Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister felicitated the President

The President of India Droupadi Murmu was accorded a civic reception by Government of Maharashtra on her first visit to the State since becoming the President at Raj Bhavan Mumbai on 6th July, 2023.
State Governor Ramesh Bais, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis felicitated the President by presenting her an idol of Lord Ganesha and a bust of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
The reception was attended by several ministers, former Chief ministers Sushil Kumar Shinde and Prithviraj Chavan, playback singer Asha Bhosle and director of Birla Group Rajashree Birla among others.
The Governor also hosted a state dinner in honour of the President. A cultural programme was also organised on the occasion.
President Murmu began her speech in Marathi, which surprised everyone present. She praised the contribution of Maharashtra in the country’s freedom struggle, economic and social development as well as in the field of music and folk art.
The President recalled Lokmanya Tilak’s freedom mantra ‘Swaraj is my Birthright’. In his speech, the President also mentioned contributions of prominent personalities of Maharashtra in the field of music that included Pandit Vishnu Narayan Bhatkhande, Pandit Vishnu Digambar Paluskar, Kishori Amonkar and Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar too.
