- CG: Mumbaikars will get a deal to watch Indonesian Ramayana soon

Newly appointed Consul General of Indonesia His Excellency Eddy Wardoyo met Governor of Maharashtra Ramesh Bais for the first time after assuming the charge. It was a courtesy meeting which was held on 8th November 2023 at Raj Bhavan in Mumbai. CG was accompanied by Consulate officials Endy Ginting and Charlie John.
The Indonesian CG discussed and apprised various points to The Governor. He highlighted Diplomatic relations between India and Indonesia will complete 75 years next year. The CG informed the Governor that Indonesia’s Globally acclaimed cultural program Ramayana and Mahabharata will be organized in Mumbai. It would be a great opportunity for Mumbaikars to watch Indonesia’s finest live show.
While speaking to the Governor, CG said “In Ramayana and Mahabharat, artists from various communities takes active participation that includes Muslim, Christian and others. Ramayana and Mahabharat are seen as a cultural heritage in Indonesia. Indian culture has a great impact on Indonesia. Muslim communities also use names such as Ram, Vishnu and Sita etc.
The CG apprised that previously he has worked in the Indonesian Embassy in New Delhi for 4 years. In his new role he will focus on increasing social, cultural and trade relations.
The Governor Ramesh Bais thanked Indonesia for its cooperation in successfully hosting the G-20 summit and highlighted India-Indonesia cultural ties.
The Governor expressed happiness that Indonesia has overtaken Singapore to become India’s largest trading partner among ASEAN countries. Many tourists from India visit Indonesia. The governor expressed the hope that direct flight services between Indonesia and India have now started and the consuls should also promote Indian tourism in Indonesia.
