Quanzhou Witnesses CCTV plus’s Magnificent 12th Global Video Media Forum

 Continuing its annual tradition since 2011, The 12th Global Video Media Forum (VMF) was held in Quanzhou, of Fujian province on December 3. The event was organised at magnificent Crowne Plaza Riverview Hotel. It brought together 87 media organizations from over 60 countries and regions.

Launched by CCTV Video News Agency (CCTV+) in 2011The two-day VMF event gathered around 200 representatives from mainstream media outlets and international organizations from more than 60 countries and regions in the coastal city of Quanzhou, known as an historic trading port and UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The VMF has grown into a premier platform for media professionals from around the world to discuss the latest trends in video content communication and innovation, and aims to foster greater interaction and collaboration between domestic and international media.

Shen Haixiong, president of China Media Group, during his speech at the opening ceremony, emphasized the role of media in connecting different cultures and peoples and documenting stories of exchange. He was of opinion that media plays an important role showcasing all the aspects of growth in global arena.

Gao Wei, Editor in Chief, CCTV+ in his speech said “Media shapes our minds to understand each other’s cultural values and perspectives. it brings us views of different people over the same issues and based on the circumstances we react, oppose and even embrace these different views. Also, media brings all of us at a single platform where we learn about multicultural aspects. Global Video Media Forum is live example of bringing extraordinary talents from many countries to Quanzhou, all under one roof. So, the vital impact of media cannot be disregarded.

It is worth mentioning that   Quanzhou, a coastal city in east China’s Fujian Province, was a major port along the Maritime Silk Road and a global maritime trade center back in the Song Dynasty (960-1297) and Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368). From its port, silk, porcelain, and tea were ferried out of China, while spices, exotic plants, and other rare treasures were shipped back.

During the event media dialogue was organised as round table conference namely media dialogue which was moderated by CGTN host Tian Wei. Gao Wei, Editor in Chief of CCTV plus was also part of round table conference. Former Kyrgyzstan Prime Minister Djoomart Otorbaev, top journalists and think tank shared their views. There were 22 leading guests including me participated in the discussion.
