The Taiwan Tourism Administration (TTA), tasked with promoting Taiwan’s destination profile, is targeting significant growth in India’s outbound tourism market. Speaking at SATTE 2025, Paul Shih, Director of the TTA Singapore office, shared that the agency expects to surpass 38,000 Indian visitors in 2024, reflecting a 20% growth. Overall, Taiwan anticipates 7.5 million international visitors for the year, with India emerging as a key source market.
Shih highlighted Taiwan’s efforts to strengthen ties with Indian travel trade partners, including high-level meetings with stakeholders during his visit. He also participated in SATTE’s inauguration and an engaging panel discussion titled India on the Move: Cracking the Code of Outbound Growth, focusing on India’s potential to drive outbound tourism to Taiwan.
Post-pandemic, Taiwan has reinvigorated its efforts in India, utilizing targeted strategies such as roadshows, FAM trips, digital campaigns, and participation in trade shows. This focused approach led to a 20% increase in Indian visitors to Taiwan between January and October 2024, with 31,766 arrivals. The broader trend of Indian outbound travel grew by 10% during this period, while Taiwan saw a remarkable 24.55% increase in total international visitors, reaching 6.2 million.

TTA’s approach combines trade activation with consumer engagement, making it easier for Indian partners to promote Taiwan. Notably, Taiwan’s push into the Incentives market has led to successful outcomes, including hosting over 1,100 delegates from Asian Paints. In 2025, Taiwan plans to continue focusing on both Incentives and luxury travel segments, aiming to maintain its position as a top choice for Indian travellers.
Taiwan also aims to strengthen partnerships with OTAs and airlines to offer tailor-made travel packages for Indian visitors. Additionally, TTA is expanding its outreach to East India and tier II cities, broadening its market footprint beyond metropolitan areas.
As part of its global campaign, Taiwan has launched the updated “TAIWAN – Waves of Wonder” tourism brand, emphasizing the diverse experiences available throughout the four seasons, making Taiwan an appealing destination for Indian tourists year-round.
