The High Commission of India in Colombo announced the opening of applications for the AYUSH Scholarship Scheme for the academic year 2025–26. This prestigious initiative by the Government of India offers Sri Lankan nationals the opportunity to pursue studies in traditional Indian systems of medicine at undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels.
Courses are available in Ayurveda and Unani from undergraduate to doctoral levels, while Homeopathy and Siddha are offered at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. In the field of Yoga, students can apply for B.Sc., B.A. (Yoga Shastra), M.Sc., and Ph.D. programs.
To be eligible, candidates applying for undergraduate programs in Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani, and Homeopathy must have passed the G.C.E. Advanced Level with subjects in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. Those applying for undergraduate studies in Yoga (B.Sc or B.A. Yoga Shastra) must have completed their A/Ls in any stream.
For postgraduate programs in Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani, and Homeopathy, applicants should hold a relevant undergraduate degree recognized by the Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM). Ph.D. applicants in Ayurveda and Unani must have both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree recognized by CCIM. Candidates interested in M.Sc. (Yoga) and Ph.D. (Yoga) must possess a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree, respectively.
These scholarships cover full tuition fees and provide a monthly living allowance, accommodation support, and an annual grant for the entire duration of the course. Applications must be submitted online via the ICCR A2A portal (www.a2ascholarships.iccr.gov.in) by 08 June 2025.
