Andheri West: Residents of Yamuna Nagar are living in fear as the entire locality remains without street lights, making nights especially dangerous during monsoon showers.
According to messages circulating among local community groups, residents say they have repeatedly approached the BMC MLA about the issue but have received no response. “It is very scary at night when it rains — you can’t see anything,” said Pratima Dewan, a resident raising her voice for the neighbourhood.
While some street light poles have reportedly been installed, the work remains incomplete. Huge junction boxes, allegedly installed by Adani, stand dangerously in the middle of the road, posing a hazard to motorists and pedestrians alike. Locals insist these boxes need to be moved behind to prevent any major accident.
Residents are now appealing to the civic authorities through local newspapers, hoping that media attention will finally bring light — literally — to Yamuna Nagar.
